Stand Up for the Soil You Stand On!
In the United States, Patriot Day occurs on September 11th of each year in memory of the people killed in the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Rochester community members have been meeting to enhance the mindfulness of the heroism work our Law Enforcement, Fire, and Military personnel, with the support of their families, provide us every day! At the same time, we will “Never Forget” 9/11.
Therefore, we have passionately devoted time to make sure we not only recognize the fine work of our local Law Enforcement, Fire and Military, we also wanted to justly find a way to “HONOR” them. This past year, so many events were negated due to Covid-19. Since we have all learned how to adapt, community members wanted to distinguish our local heroes in another manner to show our gratitude. Therefore, we are beginning a 50-day campaign to raise funds for the following local programs;
- Police; Law Enforcement Memorial – The Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation of Southeast Minnesota was formed to honor the fallen officers of the following Municipal, State, Federal and Military agencies operating within the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association’s Sixth District including the counties of Rice, Steele, Freeborn, Waseca, LeSueur, Mower, Dodge, Olmsted, Goodhue, Wabasha, Winona, Fillmore and Houston.
- Fire; The Clock and Bell Tower – The plan is to build a new tower at the corner of Broadway and Sixth Street Southwest next to Rochester’s Fire Station No. 1 for the 118-year-old clock and bell.
- Ironwood Christian Springs Ranch – Families of the Fallen – The Families of the Fallen Retreats at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch are offered to the Family of Service Members who died while serving on active duty in the National Guard or Reserves at the time of their death. Every loss and all causes of death are represented, and the Family is supported in their journey with three days of peer community and the loving care of the Ironwood Staff.
- Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt– An inspiring weekend to give hope, encouragement, and the promise of a bright future. Activities include a “Wild Turkey Hunt” sponsored by the National Wildlife Turkey Foundation. This retreat is for people who have become disabled as a result of their sacrificial service to our country.
